Shore fishing. For anglers without a boat there are still many options to catch fish on Rottnest Island. A super long rod is not necessary as in any of the good spots casting distance is rarely a  factor.Rottnest fishing is best from the shore from March through till the end of September.
Natural Jetty is quite good on the Thompson Bay side for fish like tailor, silver bream, gardies, skippy and herring. A favourite herring spot is Bathurst Point over by the Light House. Geordie bay is also a favourite for Herring.Ricey beach is good for Herring and occasionally yeilds Salmon.Little Armstrong Bay is often home to King George Whiting amongst other species.
